The desert Area of Canada

June 18-19,  2011
Hello loyal follower(s)
From Revelstoke to Whistler was mostly “desert” area normally  hot 100+℉ and dry with little snow during the winter.  However, the temperature was running 30-40℉ below normal as we traveled through.
Based on the recommendation in the Moon Handbook on British Columbia we stopped in Kamloops on Saturday and had lunch here:

As you can see, it was sort of quaint, and the food was good and not over priced.

They claim to support local endeavors where possible.  This bottle of “root” beer was made in New Jersey.  Oh yeah that was Cyndy at the table having Curried Vegetable soup, it was good.   Mr Nut had a meatball sandwich which was also good.  We spent some time visiting with the owners and some of the employees.  They were unaware of the plug they got in the Moon Handbook.

On Sunday June 19 we drove the narrow mountain “highway” number 99 to Pemberton North of Vancouver ( about a two hour drive to Vancouver).

On the way we crossed this bridge which intrigued Cyndy.

Mr Nut was intrigued by this neat flower (about two inches across).

We had a great lunch here (The Pony) in Pemberton, which was the same town our B&B for the night was located.

The Pony seemed to be the "hot" spot in the town.  Notice the model trains near the ceiling, they ran on a track all round the room.

Our home for the night.  Our suite was in  the last door on the left.

The view from the door to our B&B.

The B&B had a great kitchen as you can see.  It made Mr Nut anxious to make bread in his new Dutch ovens,or something. But that  has to wait.

Tomorrow it's off to West Vancouver.

À bientôt,
Mr Nut
