Canyon Hot Springs

Thursday and Friday, June 16-17, 2011
Canyon Hot Springs
Hello loyal follower(s) This was also erroneously posted on the Crusty Dough Nut blog
This was suppose to be a hiking adventure in the Canadian Glacier National Park  and the Revelstoke National Park.  Both parks were almost completely closed because of SNOW on the trails etc.  So we took advantage of the Hot Springs.

This was the place. The springs were actually two miles away and they piped the water in and reheated it.

This reminded us of our days in France staying in Gites, (vacation “cabins” made from old chicken coops, machine sheds, etc. usually on French farms).

For example this lamp would only work if a frying pan was hung on the faulty switch.  Usually in France, almost all the furnishings were discards from regular use.

IAs you can see everything was a mismatch, but the plates and some of the cooking pot were in good shape.

This was the honeymoon cabin and was too expensive for Goldilocks.

This was too small for Goldilocks.

This cabin was just right for Goldilocks. If it was good enough for Goldilocks, it was good enough for Mr Nut.

Since we were at a Hot Springs area, it was necessary to show you Cyndy in the 104℉  pool.

IThere was also a cooler pool at 85℉ for the real swimmers.

The scenery from the pool was great.  Mr Nut felt that 104℉ was too hot and 85℉ was too cold so he limited his exposure  to 15 minutes in the hotter pool.
We did go into the town of Revelstoke to see the dam on the Columbia River.

This was it.
We did walk around the town and did some shopping, and Mr Nut found a Dutch oven the desired size.  Mr Nut  has been unable to find one the web or anyplace else.

The diameter of the top was eight inches, just perfect.  Mr Nut bought two of them, the one shown and an orange one.  Of  course  this means all the bread recipe will have to be rewritten.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience where we cooked our non breakfast meals in our Gite like cabin. It certainly was a flashback to our time in France.
À bientôt
Mr Nut
